Music Magazines in a Shop
Music magazines in a shop on PhotoPeach
·
How many music magazines are on sale?
·
There are 3 different
music magazines on sale and there are about 10 of each on the shelves.
·
How many different genres of magazines are on
sale?
·
There a 2 different
genres of magazine on sale, two rock (Kerrang! And NME) and Top Of the pops.
·
What is the positioning of the music magazines
in the store?
·
The
magazines are mostly positioned at the front of the shelves especially the top
of the pops magazine, whereas the Kerrang! And NME sometimes have rude language
or imagery on them so we keep them nearer the back and reasonably high up on
the shelves so young children can’t see them.
·
Which
magazines are at the front of the stand and at the back?
·
As
I said we keep the Kerrang! And NME magazines high up and near the back of the
shelves out of young children’s reach and view.
·
What parts
of the magazine are on show the most and which part is shown the least?
·
Mostly
the top of the magazine is on show because It has the title of the magazine on
the top, the bit at the bottom hardly has any information on any way so it
would be pointless to put that on view, all you need the is the top half
really.
·
How clear is
the name of the magazine? Is the price clear?
·
The
magazine title is very clear as it is at the top of most magazines in big bold and
clear text so it is hard to miss, but the price is not very clear on any of the
magazines as it is in small text on the bar code usually at the bottom of the
magazine so no one sees it.
·
What do you
notice about the positioning of the major artists? Can you discuss the eyes and
why these are important?
·
Normally the major
artists are in the middle of the page and they are generally the main person
for that issue of magazine, they mostly look out of the page to catch people’s
eyes and influence them and urge people who glance at the magazine to buy.
In this task I have learnt what magazines a certain shop sell and how they present them in their shop on the shelves, and also what the shop keeper thinks of the magazines.

NME and Kerrang! music magazine rate cards
This Rate card is helpful because it is
surprising that they know who reads their magazines for example Kerrang! Know that
54.7%of males read the magazine which is nearly 10% more the female readers
also the know roughly how old their readers are for example 56.1% of people
between 15-24 read Kerrang! I didn’t know this before.
This rate card is interesting because it
show that the magazine know who the readers are, there are also key stats about
the magazine. Also there are magazine front covers so you know what they look
like. I didn’t know any of this before but now I do so this is helpful for
loads of different people because there is a contacts section, key stats about
the social media and how many people read it.
I have learnt in this task how much major magazines know who there customers and buyers are and how they lay out their rate cards and what they include in them.

School Magazine Research
This school magazine is quite boring and bland as there is not much
colour, but I like the font as it is different and it stands out but there is a
lack of colour in the font which I think would make it stand out more, is also tell you what is in the magazine.
I like this school magazine front cover because
it is simple but effective as the magazine title stands out as it has a large
font and the colour is bright, it also tells you what is in the magazine which is useful, also
the font in the background is well chosen as it looks like it has been written on paper so it
makes the magazine linked with school.
I like this school magazine front cover because its tells you what is
in it and also the font and the colours blend together to make it stand out,
for instance the white and yellow font colour doesn’t clash with the dark
background, also I like the use of a mid-shot.
I like
this School magazine contents page because it clearly tells you what is in the
magazine, it is well layed out and the colours match, also it is quite easy to
read because the font is quite big which makes it stand out more.
This
School magazine contents page is not very easy to read because the yellow font
clashes with the white background also it is not very well layed out because
the writing goes over the images on the page also it is a bit plain.
What i learnt
I learnt how to lay out a magazine front cover and contents appropriately, with colours that go well together and stand out using big font to make it easier and clearer to read.
