Edited Picture
I have used the Dark Strokes tool in photoshop to make this image look stronger for the female audience.
Double page spread construction
I found a magazine double page spread that has inspired me for my own page. I am going to use some of the forms and conventions in my own magazine so that it fits the indie genre and that readers will be engaged.

Here is the work that I completed after school today. I am pleased with the construction and how it is coming along. I think that I need to make some changes to the double page spread as it is not looking as good as it could.

This is what I have done today. As I am going I am learning how to use Pages and Photoshop. I like this page, but I can see that I am going to need to make some changes as it isn't looking like the genre at the moment.

This is the first time that I have used Photoshop so I am finding it hard to use. Here I have removed the background so that I can add lots to the magazine front cover. It is hard to cut out the hair....I need to look online how to make this smoother.
2nd Photoshoot
This is my 2nd photoshoot, here I have thought about the background and the different camera angles.
My First Photo Shoot
After doing this shoot I realised i should only have one model in my shoots because for the front cover there is to much space taken up in between them also it will be a lot easier and look more musical if there is one model and a guitar

Magazine Article 2nd Draft
My first album
Blink-182 – ‘Enema of the state’
“I think the first album I brought was
blink-182’s ‘enema of the state’. I was 11 and my friends had it and I just
liked every single song. I’d listen to that album 100 times before I brought it
and I had to have it myself. If it came on and I was totally wasted now, I’d
totally love every minute of it. I haven’t listened to it for a long time
though. Maybe I’ll listen to it when I get home…”
My first gig
Stingray, Glastonbury, 2011
‘The lead singer was my IT teacher from
school, and then he dropped out of school to be in Stingray full time. I
thought he was a genius and a god. He was the first person I met who gave up
everything to do music. He owns the place where we practices now and we’re good
mates, but back then he was our teacher so when we saw him onstage it was like,
‘you are so cool, Mr. Hampton.”
The first song I fell in love with
‘Akuna Mutate’ from the lion king
“It’d be ‘Hakuna Matata’. I had an argument
with someone recently and realized my entire worldview come from ‘Hakuna
Matata’ “no worries for the rest of your days/it’s a problem free philosophy”.
That’s it. That attitude to life is really refreshing and it’s something I try
to sustain even 17 years after watching the film.”
My favorite lyric
The Beatles – ‘she loves you’
“It’d probably be something like ‘she loves
you, yeah, yeah, yeah’. Four of the simplest song words, but just done really
well.”
My favorite film
Step Brothers
“Has to be stepbrothers, I personally think
it is 1 of the funniest films around I have it on DVD and I have seen it
roughly around 15 times in the last year or 2.”
My favorite sport
“I have many favorite sports including
football, rugby, golf, cricket, I enjoy watching and playing all these sports,
I was born into a sporty family with my dad and my brother both playing cricket
and football at a high level, I have played for England under 19s for cricket
which was a good experience, I am also a massive Manchester United fan with a
season ticket, but currently my music is taking over my life!”

Photo Shoot Planning
In this task I learnt when my photo shoots are going to happen, also where and when they are going to happen. these also show what kind of shot the photo will be and it has a brief description of the photo e.g. the costumes, the lighting and where they are going to located.
My Own Rate Card
This is my rate card as you can see it has my logo and what magazine institution my magazine is going to be made by, also it has images of the different hobbies and interest I want my target audience to enjoy, my rate card also has information about the gender my magazine is aimed at, the age rating, the types of genres that are going to be in my magazine.
In this task I learnt about the purpose of a rate card. It's meant to provide information about a magazine and what is in it to persuade the target audience to buy the magazine. Someone could get a general idea on what the magazine is like just by reading the rate card.
Logo Planning
This is my logo for my magazine and also the different fonts I found on a dafont which is a website on the internet. I played around different colours and fonts to see what they looked like together. This is what I came up with as my final logo.
I chose to call my magazine 'MM' because it is short and simple but effective, it is kind of like NME as well which i am trying to imitate. I chose this style of text because I think it is the most effective and it also looks good. I like the logo because I like the blend with the blue and black colours. I think I will your change the logo colour, to match the genre on the front page.
My Own Flat Plan
This is my flat plan for my magazine it show what it has on every page from 1 to 70, front to back including things like advert, the gig guide, the puzzle page, posters of the artist/band and also what every double page spread has on it.
In this task I learnt about what goes into planning all the pages in a magazine. A flat plan creates an easy way to view how the finished pages in the magazine should be laid out.

Interview
This new young, up and coming band featuring Mark Wilson, who produce indie music, that all kinds of music lovers will love to like to listen to.
Interview with Mark Wilson about his new album ‘Sting Ray’
Q – How did you come up with this name ‘Sting Ray’ for your Album?
A – I don’t know really, my favourite
animal is a stingray for some reason and I wanted something that represented me so I choose ‘Sting Ray’ a bit random I know.
Q – Are you exited about the new album?
A – Yes, I am very Excited, I have been working on this for at least 2 years and of course it is my first album out.
Q – Talk to us about the release of your new album ‘Sting Ray’
A – Certainly, It comes out on the 11th
of December just before Christmas so plenty of time to get it into stockings for people who enjoy listening to Indie and recent music.
Q – What musical instrument do you and what is your favourite?
A – I like to play all different kinds of
instruments ranging from acoustic guitar and i can also play the drums, I am also a singer.
Q – When did the idea of becoming a music artist come about?
A – Well, in year 10 I took music for GCSE with my parents saying "what a waste of time that is", I wanted to prove them wrong so I started talking about it then in a lesson with my teacher at the time which was almost 6 years ago now, I got an A* in music. I also got recognized when we were playing in a local pub by someone who I later discovered was Justin Bieber’s agent who then spent some time with me, a got me to were I am now.
Q – If this music business didn’t take off, what career path would you have gone down?
A – Well I am a very big sports fan
especially football, I support Manchester United and i am a season ticket holder, I have played a very good standard of football playing for the Manchester United academy from a young age so probably something sports
related, but I had to let that go as our passion for music was far
greater. I did Sport Studies, Music and ICT and did well in those as well as getting Maths, English and Science at GCSE level, i then went on to do Music and Media at A- Level and did very well in those, then i decided to take a year out and go skiing for a year in France because I was a very good skier. I came back and started playing the guitar in pubs and the i got recognized.
Q – What is your favorite music genre?
A – I Don’t really know to be honest, probably Indie music, but I like to listen to all kinds of music, I mainly listening to the latest music.

My Pitch for MM
This task helped me to understand what I need to put into my magazine and what magazine ideas I am going to do for example I am going to do roughly the same sort of magazine as NME, so basically all genres, also I looked at the target audience of NME as they will have the same audience as I will.
